Anti-Theft Devices For Cars

In our previous article, we talked about how auto theft can cost dearly for you when it comes to auto insurance, that’s why, most of the cars have some forms of anti-theft devices in it to make it more safe, secure and free from thieves or robbers.

Of course, even with the best anti-theft devices installed won’t guarantee that your vehicle will be safe, because human error may cause it to be stolen as well. You need to be cautious and alert whenever you leave your car; where you park your car, is your key with you, is the alarm on and some other issues that are being discussed in the previous article. All these may look trivial to you now, but, it may cost you dearly.



There are many types of anti-theft devices on the market;

- Fuel Kill Switch. The valve that halts the fuel supply is closed.
- Visible Steering Wheel Lock. Prevents the steering wheel from being turned.
- Floorboard Locks. Devices that disable the gas or break pedal.
- Gearshift Locks. Disables shifting of the transmission.
- Tire/Wheel Locks. Prevents the vehicle from moving.
- Electronics Security Systems. Alarms sound warnings when doors are opened.
- Sensors. Alarms sound warnings when glass breakage, motion, tampering and towing.
- Vehicle Tracking. Some form of transmission used to track the vehicle location.


The above are just some examples of anti-theft devices, there are many more different types of devices on the market.


Ultimately, all these devices serves the same purpose, that is , to deter possible theft of our car. It is entirely up to you what sorts of devices you want to purchase and installed on your car.

Park Your Car - A Simple Guide


Do you know how hard your pocket will be hit if your car is being stolen? Most auto insurance coverage will not be able to fully cover you for your car loss and not to mention any valuables you leave inside the car.

So, to avoid being a victim of auto theft, it is your responsibility to ensure that your car is properly secured when you park your car. There are some simple rules that you should followed when you park your car:-

  1. Take your keys. If you need to walk away from your car, always remember to take the keys with you; don’t leave it in the ignition.


  2. Lock your car. It is simply unbelievable, but, there are people who just forget to lock the car when they park it.


  3. Closed all car windows. Check that all windows are completely closed. One single slip and your car might be gone.


  4. Park you car in a well-lighted area. It is important as it will helps to deter any possible intruder.


  5. Don’t leave anything in plain sight. Some people like to leave their laptop, bags, briefcase or documents on the car seats which are visible to everyone. Keep them away.


  6. Park your car in Garage. If you have a garage, park your car there instead of leaving it outside. It will definitely be more secure.


  7. Never leave your car running. Some drivers like to leave their car running to warm it up on morning, or leave it on while walking into convenience stores, ATM, petrol stations. If you are going to walk away from your car, don’t leave it running.


  8. Avoid parking your car long term. If you are going away for holiday, leave your car with your friend or relative. People will notice it if it is being parked for a long period and it might invite auto thieves.


  9. Park with your wheels steered toward the curb. If you need to park your car along the street, it would be would that you park in between other cars and with your wheels steered toward the curb, it will be hard for thief to two away your car.



It is always good to practice caution where parking car is concern. At the end of the day, losing your car will be a very troublesome and complicated matter and it will also be more difficult to get a cheap car insurance quote after that.

Are You Suitable To Drive


If you are paying a much higher auto insurance premium than other fellow drivers, do you know why? Your insurer won’t simply give you a high quote for no reason. You might need to sit down with them and try to find out what is the cause that you are not able to get a cheap auto insurance quote.

One of the reasons might be because you have poor driving record or was at fault for causing car accident. Either way, you will get penalize and the cost that you paid for your auto insurance will be higher.

Take a short rest before assessing yourself if you are able to continue driving. If you are not able to, don’t do so. Call for assistance. Get someone, either friends or family member to come and pick you up.


It is better to be safe than sorry. At the end of the day, it will also help you to get a cheap car insurance quote and your premium cost will be lower.
