Do You Need to Buy Car Rental Insurance

Los Angeles Auto Insurance Assist

Okay, you are going to go for a short holiday and decided to rent a car and drive around. Now, before you decide on what and where to rent the car, did you ever wonder, do I really need to buy insurance to rent a car?

Well, the answer can either be a YES or NO. That’s really depends. Now, before you start scratching your head (most probably you are not sure why). Let me tell you why it can be either answer. It is because you need to do some homework yourself to find out if you have adequate car insurance coverage before you decided. If you have enough coverage, then, it is not necessary for you to purchase a car rental insurance. And if you don’t, then, it is of course necessary for you to buy, so that you can have a peace of mind that you are covered.

So, what should you do then to find out if you have sufficient car insurance coverage?

First of all, contact your car insurance company to find out in detailed the coverage and deductibles you have on your own car insurance policy. In most of the cases, these items would apply to a rental car as long as it is being rental for pleasure and not for business purpose. So, it is important to find out more information from your insurance company.

Secondly, you need to call your credit card company to find out the type of insurance your card company provides when you charge the rental cost to the card. The type of coverage might vary from different cards, so, find out more about it.

Now, if you don’t have any car insurance, what can you do?

Do check back tomorrow as there will be a post on what you need to do when you are going to rent a car and you don’t have any car insurance policy purchased.
